MICHEL 799A to 802A
HITLER HEAD DEFINITIVES
Issued 20th Mar 1942: These 4 stamps were designed by Prof. Dachaur and were engraved by the State Printing Office in Vienna on sheets (5x10). There paper was unwatermarked and there are two types. Type "A" is Perf L 12½ (so-called "perfix - perforation") and Type "B" which is perf 14.

STAMP DAY
(Tag der Briefmarke)
This stamp was issued on 11th January 1942 along with 4 official postcards. The stamps were produced on sheets of 50 and were valid until 31st December 1942. There is an associated special postmark used for only a single day (11.1.1942) showing a posthorn with the initials "RdP" - 'Reich Union of Philatelists'. An estimated 133 towns used this postmark.

HERO's DAY
(Heldengedenktag)
The following stamp was issued on 10th March 1942 to commemorate Hero's Day 1942. This stamp was designed by Prof. Richard Klein from a bronze by Paul Bronisch. The stamp was issued on sheets of 50 stamps and was unwatermarked. A special postmark was used for one day (15.3.1942) which depicted a sword with inscription 'They died for Greater Germany' and was issued from either Berlin, Munich or Vienna.
MICHEL 813
53rd BIRTHDAY of ADOLF HITLER
Issued on 13th April 1942 to celebrate Hitler's 53rd Birthday this stamp was issued on sheets of 50 stamps and was also accompanied by a special postmark, used for one day (20.4.1942) with the inscription "With the Führer to victory". Berlin, Braunau, Munich, Nuremberg, Strassborg and Vienna used this special postmark.

The BLUE RIBBON RACE
Issued 16th June 1942 on sheets of 100 stamps and valid until May 1945. The Blue Band was an annual horse race for 3 year old's at the Horner Moor racecourse in Hamburg. A special postmark depicting the 'Arms of Hamburg' was used on the 19th, 21st, 24th and 28th June (raceday) and is inscribed "German Grand Prix for three-year old's".
During the Second World War, the German Derby became known as the "Grosser Deutschlandpreis der Dreijahrigen" (see special postmark above) um "Das Blaue Band" or the "Greater Germany Sweepstakes of Three-year-olds" in "The Blue Ribbon" race. The race was originally held annually in the German city of Hamburg, however ot moved to Hoppegarten in 1943 until the last race in

The BROWN RIBBON RACE
This stamp was issued in sheets of 50 on 14th July 1942 and celebrates the 9th Brown Ribbon Race. There are 3 special postmarks that were used, one has the same design as the stamp, another is inscribed "German Alpen Prize Race" and depicts the head of a horse. The last postmark inscribed "International Race Week Munich 1st-26th July 1942. Brown Ribbon of Germany".
From 1934 to
the annual week-long Brown Ribbon horse racing event took place at Riem just outside Munich. It was a very popular social event even with the risk of Allied bombing. The race itself was for 3- and 4-year-old horses over a distance of 1.5 miles. The race started in the Nazi party's first year in power (1933), the name being derived from the brown uniform of the paramilitary wing (the Sturmabteilung).

10th ANNIV of GERMAN SOCIETY
for GOLDSMITH´s ART
These two stamps and a postcard were issued on 8th August 1942 and were valid through May 1945. The stamps celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the National Goldsmith's Institution and were issued in sheets of 50. There is a special postmark that was used for just one day (18.10.1942) that depicts the Arms of Hanau and is inscribed "Consecration of the Goldsmith's House". Postcard P293 was issued at the same time witha 6 + 4RPf indicia of the same design as the stamp. The postcard was used to encourage membership of the Goldsmith's Institution and there is 1 of 8 different messages printed on the reverse side.

S.A. MILITARY TRAINING MONTH
(Wettkampftage der SA)
This stamp, issued on 8th August 1942 and valid through May 1945 celebrates the foundation of the S.A. Sports Medal. This medal was a very prestigious award that was handed out to S.A. members who achieved a high standard in several events during S.A. Sports week. Produced on sheets of 100 these stamps exist in a wide variety of shades from very light to very dark violet. The events were held in different towns on different dates and each town had its own special postmark, available only on that day. There were 10 different cities that used this postmark. (requires verification).

400th ANNIV of Death of
PETER HENLEIN
Issued on 29th Auguust 1942 in sheets of 100 this stamp was valid until May 1945 and depicted Peter Henlein the inventor of the "Nüremberg egg" watch. The stamp design followed the Henlein Memorial in Nüremberg and is inscribed "erfinder der taschenuhr" - 'The inventor of the pocket watch PETER HENLEIN +1542'. A special postmark was issued only on the 6th September 1942 which depicts the Coat of Arms of Nürnberg.

Michel 820 Through 822
"European Postal Congress"
These 3 stamps and postcard were issued on 12th October 1942 and were valid through May 1945. The official postmark that accompanied these stamps and postcard depicts a mounted Postillion and is inscribed "Europӓischer Postkongress" - 'European Post Congress'.
MICHEL 823 to 825
SIGNING of EUROPEAN POSTAL CONGRESS
Issued one week after the base series, on the 19th October 1942, these stamps and postcard were valid through May 1945. These stamps were overprinted '19.Okt.1942' but are otherwise the same as the base set. There was no special cancel issued for these stamps, instead the original special stamp was reused.

Issued December 1942 in sheets of 100 stamps. The 12RPf has a known printing error where the first 'E' of 'DEUTSCHES' looks like an 'F'.

OFFICIALS
Issued: March 1942. This series of Official stamps was designed by Prof. Richard Klein and were printed typography at the Berlin State Printing Works from plates. They were unwatermarked and had a vertically ribbed yellow gum. Perforate 14 : 14¼ these stamps were available in sheets of 100 (The same as Michel 144 to 154 except No Watermark and some colour variations)
MICHEL 166 to 177
OFFICIALS
Manufactured in sheets of 100 these stamps were Perforate comb 14 : 14¼, typography on coated, vertically ribbed yellow gummed paper from the State Printing Works in Vienna. (Same as Michel 132 through 143 But without watermark and slight colour variations).
MICHEL 1A and 1B
PERMISSION STAMPS for FIELDPOST
Introduced on 18th Apr 1942 and valid through May 1945. These labels were introduced to control the volume of mail from the Eastern Front, Scandinavia, Greece and Africa. Eligible members of the armed forces were issued with these concession stamps which could be used from the theatre of war to Germany as well as from Germany to the front. These stamps exist in many shades and were issued in Sheets of 100. Examples can be found which were printed at Tromso, Oslo and Rovanniemi.
There are two major versions, Type 1A which is perf 13¾ : 14 and Type 1B which is serrated roulette.

MICHEL 2A
FELDPOST PARCEL CONCESSION LABEL
These stamps were issued in July 1942 and were valid through May 1945. They were also available in Sheets of 100. The stamp was designed by Marggraff and typography printed by the State Printing Works in Berlin. The stamp is perf 13¾:14 fr the 'A' version and the 'B' version is rouletted.
