MICHEL P206
OFFICIAL POSTCARD
5Rpf

This postcard was designed by S. von Weech and was published to commemorate the German Transport Exhibition (Deutsche Verkehrs-Ausstellung), held in Munich from Jun to Oct 1925. The design of the stamp features a flywheel with two bolts of lightning. The four colour image on the card depicts a Reichsadler, beneath the letters "DVA", standing on a globe with the date '1925'.

There are two major and one minor variation. P206-I does not have a 5 digit number beneath the globe, whereas P206-II has a 5 digit number beneath the globe. In addition there are two versions of P206-I, the design is the same but P206 Ia is coloured yellowish-green, and P206-Ib is coloured matt green. P206-II only occurs as a P206-IIb in matt green.

There was a brochure printed in German and English to accompany the exhibition and it describes the goal of the show as "intended to lay out a path of peace and culture which will again tighten the bonds of friendship between the nations". The front of the brochure fetures a view of Munich with various trains, light aircraft and a Zeppelin airship.

The postcard sold for 10Rpf and was valid for use until 31st Dec 1925. There were 122,000 printed cards for P206 Ia and Ib and only 50,000 of the P206 II type.
