NAZI GERMANY
SECURITY RESTRICTIONS
(1933)
This set of postcards likely appeared in 1933 as part of the Nazi government's demands to be freed from the restrictions of the Versaille agreement. There are at least two postacrds, probably more, that highlight the German's perceived or otherwise, unfairness with the constraints of the treaty. [Much more research is needed on these intersting cards].
The inscription on the reverse of these cards reads:
"Durch feine einseitige Abrüstung ist Deutschlands sicherheit aufs schwerste bedroht, folange feine Nachbarn nicht in gleicher Weife abruften. Das Deutsche Volk fordert einmutig gleiches Recht und gleiche Sicherheit wie die anderen volker und volle Gleichberechtigung in dieser notionalen Lebensfrage."
'One-sided disarmament threatens Germany’s security in the most serious way, as long as its neighbours do not have to comply to the same restrictions. The German people unanimously demand the same rights and the same security as the other peoples, and full equality in this notional question of life.'
DIE LUFTBEDROHUNG DEUTSCHLANDS
(THE AIR THREAT TO GERMANY)
This card is intended to show Germany defenceless, with no airforce (per the Versailles Treaty), against it's closest neighbours with their superiority in the air. Germany is surrounded on all sides by potential enemies, defenceless under an unfair treaty.
