The 1936 Winter Olympics (also known as the IV Winter Olympics) was held from 6th to 16th Feb 1936, in the German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, on the German/Austrian border. The games featured participants from 28 countries and was almost abandoned due to the lack of adequate snowfall.

ÖSTERREICHISCHES OLYMPISCHES COMITE

This postcard was actually printed in Austria but it has a German Michel 600X stamp cancelled in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the first day of the games and also featuring one of the three special slogan postmarks that were available.

The inscription on the card reads:
