Please note the following for this website. Official Postcards are defined as:

1. Postcards of the German Empire issued by the Official German postal Authority, from 1873 until 1945.

2. Postcards that were generally available throughout the entire country and have a pre-printed (Indicia) stamp to cover the cost of postage.

The vast majority of official postcards have no printing on the reverse side so no image of the reverse side is provided, except in the few instances where there was something printed on the reverse of the card.

There were two official postcards, P182 and P196 as well as two replycards, P184 and P198.

P182
(POSTCARD)

Issued: 1928. There are two versions of this postcard: P182-I has straight edges and P182-II has a serrated edge. With four dotted address lines in the destination section and two dotted lines in the senders section. Very similar to P196 only now with 4 lines instead of five in the sender's section.

A P182 must have the following characteristics:
(1) 15Pf carmine Hindenburg Madallion pre-printed stamp. And
(2) "Postkarte" directly to the right of the vertical dividing line. And
(3) Dividing line consists of three vertical lines. And
(4) Four lines of text in the sender's section. And
(5) Measures 148 x 105mm.

P182-I
POSTCARD

P184
(REPLYCARD)

Issued: 1928. There are two versions of this replycard: P184-I has straight edges and P184-II has a serrated edge. With four dotted address lines in the destination section and two dotted lines in the senders section.

A P184 must have the following characteristics:
(1) 15Pf carmine, Hindenburg pre-printed stamp. And
(2) "Postkarte | mit Antwortkarte" directly to the right of the vertical dividing line. And
(3) Dividing line consists of three vertical lines. And
(4) Four dotted lines in destination section and 2 dotted lines in the sender's section. And

REPLYCARD

P196
(POSTCARD)

Issued: 1931. P196 features five lines of text and three dotted lines in the sender's section, the distance between the first and third line is 21mm. Very similar to P182 only now with 5 lines instead of four in the sender's section. There are two versions of this postcard; P196-I has straight edges and the P196-II has a serrated edge.

A P196 must have the following characteristics:
(1) 15Pf carmine Hindenburg Madallion pre-printed stamp. And
(2) "Postkarte" directly to the right of the vertical dividing line. And
(3) Dividing line consists of three vertical lines. And
(4) Five lines of text in sender's section. And
(5) Measures 148 x 105mm.
