Michel 115
"Stamp Exhibition in Zagreb"

Issued: 12th Sep 1943 to comemmorate the 3rd Stamp Exhibition in Zagreb. Printed on sheets (4 x 10) and perf L14½. This stamp is based on a painting by Professor Vladimir Kirin and was engraved by Professor Seizinger. It depicts St. Mary Church and the Cistercian Monastery in Zagreb around 1650.

This stamp was only available from a special counter at the exhibition where a special commemorative cancel was also used. The Croatian Philatelic Alliance also made 10,000 souvenir minisheets available, signed by the engraver Professor Seizinger which had the original dates of the exhibition (5th to 12th Sep) inscribed on them. The exhibition eventually ran from the 12th to the 15th Sep 1943 but was delayed due to the collapse of the Italian forces in the region.
