"Stamp Exhibition in Zagreb with reddish overprint"

Issued: 12th Sep 1943 to comemmorate the Stamp Exhibition in Zagreb. Printed on sheets (4 x 10) and perf L14½. With the defeat of the Italian forces on 8th Sep 1943 Croatia re-issued this stamp to comemmorate the country's new found independence. This time 120,000 copies of the stamp, overprinted 'HRVATSKO MORE / 8. IX. / 1943' in red were issued and made available from all post offices, unlike the orginial stamp which was only available from the Stamp exhibition in Zagreb.

SHEETS

The stamp was printed on sheets of 40 stamps (4 x 10) with the stamp at position 22 of each sheet featuring an engraver's mark "S" in the lower-right window pane above the door.
