Falkland Islands Coat of Arms

Issued: 3rd Jan 1938. This stamp features the Falkland Islands Coat of Arms and is recess printed on watermark multi script CA paper, perf 12. This Coat of Arms was used from 16th Oct 1925 until 1948. The design features the Desire (the 120 ton flagship of Thomas Cavendish, used for the circumnavigation of the globe from 1586 to 1588). It also depicts a sea lion, a very common sight in the Falkland Islands as well as the motto of the islands 'Desire the Right'.
