Issued 1943 / 1944 on unwatermarked paper, frames engraved, centres Offset letterpress, printed rotary press and perf 12. Printed by the American Bank Note Company.
This stamp features 'GREECE'. The Italian army invaded Greece on 28th October 1940. The Greeks repelled the initial Italian attack and a counter-attack in March 1941, then the German invasion, known as Operation Marita, began on 6 April 1941. The country remained occupied by the German army until Oct 1944.
