'Falkland Island Scenes'
Overprinted 'GRAHAM LAND'

Issued: 1938 to 1950. These stamps feature scenes from around Falkland Island and are recess printed on watermark multi script CA paper, perf 12.

Falkland Island defintive stamps with denominations above 1/- 3d were used at bases in Port Lockroy from 1st Feb 1944 and Hope Bay from 12th Feb 1945. There are two circular cancels used from 12th Feb 1944 to 31st Jan 1954 at Port Lockroy and Hope Bay and an additional office at Stonington Island from 13th Mar 1946 to 8th Feb 1950 and Argentine Island from 25th Jan 1947. The cancels are inscribed 'FALKLAND ISLANDS DEPENDENCY' around the inside of the cancel and 'Graham Land' horizontally in the middle of the cancel just above the date.
