VICTORY OMNIBUS ISSUE
(Total 164 stamps)

line
Following the end of the Second World War in 1945 Brtish Empire postal authorities around the world wanted to come together to mark this significant event. They did so by issuing the Victory Ominbus Series (sometimes called the 'Peace issue') from the end of 1945 through most of 1946. A total of 62 countries issued 164 stamps as designated by the Crown Agents Offices in London.

The majority of countries followed the design provided by the Crown Agents which features the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames with a portrait of King George VI. Other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Burma, Hong Kong and India decided to produce their own designs, some celebrating the victory and others choosing to celebrate the peace.

The following list is as described in the Stanley Gibbons "COMMONWEALTH & BRITISH EMPIRE STAMPS 1840-1970" 120th Edition 2018 PART 1 M-Z ISBN: 978-1-911304-02-9, Page 647.
