This first Day cover was designed by Peter Gauld and was issued on 26th April 1972. The events commemorated are the 50th Anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, the 150th Anniversary of the formation of Her Majesy's Coast Guard and the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Official Post Office First Day Cover with local postmark "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE LEICESTER - 26 APR 1972".

The First Day Cover and the stamps were designed by Ronald Maddox and issued along with a presentation pack costing 33½p on 21st June 1972.
