MISCELLANEOUS POSTCARDS
1929
![line](divider.png)
The 1929 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1929 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich’s post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.
Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).
Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.
Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

(15th Aug 1929)
This postcard was carried aboard the Graf Zeppelin on the first leg of its World Tour from Friedrichshafen to Tokyo 15th to 19th Aug 1929. The second leg was from Tokyo to Los Angeles from 23rd to 26th Aug 1929. The third leg was from Los Angeles to Lakehurst, New York from 27th to 29th Aug. LZ127 completed the tour from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen from 1st to 4th Sep 1929.
On the picture side of the postcard there is a FRIEDRICHSHAFEN cancellation dated 4th Sep 1929 indicating that this postcard was carried throughout the entire voyage.
There is a special red circular cancellation inscribed "LUFTSCHIFF GRAF ZEPPELIN | WELTRUNDFAHRT 1929" and a red rubber cancel inscribed "Friedrichshafen (Bodensee)". The FRIEDRICHSHAFEN cancel is dated 15th Aug and is one of only three known cancellation dates for this leg of the tour, the others being 16th Aug and 18th Aug.
