From 6th Apr 1912 - 28th Jul 1915. German colonisers moved into the area in the late 19th century using the Nyong River as a means to reach the wild rubber growing regions farther inland. The Germans built a fort and other military and administrative buildings in the town.

(1) In Jan 1905 the '5' in the year date can be founf smaller than the other numbers and also raised slightly higher. In addition there was no year date on this stamp during Jan 1907 or from 1st to 5th Jan 1910. Also in Jan 1910 the year date was handwritten. Examples in blue and violet can be found in 1908, 1910 and 1913. As with the Bibundi cancel above deep black cancels dated 18.9.00, 2.12.00, 7.12.00, 2.1.01, 7.2.01 and 19.3.01 are backdated cancels.

During 1912 and 1913 Official mail of the German-French Border Expedition was post free, but was required to be marked with an official seal according to the Berne Agreement.
