GERMAN EMPIRE STAMPS

Issued: 1st Oct 1900, Regular issue German Empire stamps Michel 54 to 66, "Germania and representative illustrations" inscribed "REICHSPOST" with horizontal 'Pes' and 'cts' values. Overprinted black "Marocco" and value except Mi18 overprinted carmine-red˚.

This stamp should not be confused with Michel 17 II which was issued in 1903 and has thicker so-called "bold" overprint. The differences in Type I and Type II are shown below:
