MICHEL P10
(REPLY CARD)
Michel P10 is a reply card and was issued in 1900 as part of the first issue of Neu-Guinea Imperial Yacht postcards (Michel P8 to P11). The postcard itself is a reply card with two sides. The front of the card is inscribed 'Deutsche Reichspost | Postkarte' along the top edge and in the centre of the card. There is an inscription on the lower left-hand side that reads "Die angebogene Karte ist fur die Antworte bestimmt." or 'The attached card is intended for the reply'.
The stamp is a pre-printed 1900 Michel 8 , 5Pf inscribed 'DEUTSCH-NEU-GUINEA' with the value in 'PFENNIG'.
The reverse of the card is the reply portion and was intended for the recipient to reply to the sender without having to pay for the postage (it was already paid by the sender when he/she purchased the reply card). The reply postion is very similar to the front except for the 'Deutsche Reichspost | Postkarte' text now has an additional 'Antworte' added below it. Also the "Die angebogene Karte ist fur die Antworte bestimmt." text is not present. It is not unusal to just have half of the card and you can determine from the text wether you have the reply part or the sender part of the card.
