1901

German possession since 7th Aug 1884 with the Post Office starting on 17th July 1888.

German Southwest Africa, now the area occupied by Namibia, is located on the southwest coast of Africa. The postal network started in July 1888 and almost 100 post offices were created up until the First World War. German Southwest Africa was handed over to the South African Union on the 9th July 1915.

Stamp (2) is cancelled with the later version of the "WINDHOEK DSWA" cancel which was used from 1st Jun 1900 until 31st Aug 1903. After Aug 1903 the "WINDHOEK" cancels were changed to "WINDHUK".
Stamp (3) is cancelled with the only version of the "GIBEON" cancel, it was used from 1st Oct 1895 until 25th Apr 1915.

Stamp (5) is cancelled with the earlier "SWAKOPMUND DSWA" cancel (there were two variations) which was used from 23rd Oct 1904 until Dec 1905.
Stamp (6) is cancelled with the standard "KOLMANNSKUPP DSWA" cancel, used from 17th May 1909 until 18th Sep 1914.
