Issued 24th May 1944 on unwatermarked paper, printed rotary press and perf 11:10½.
This stamp commemorates the 100th Annniversary of the first message transmitted by telegraph. The message "What Hath God Wrought" was the official first Morse code message transmitted in the US on 24th May 1844, to officially open the Baltimore–Washington telegraph line. There were also First Day Covers to commemorate the anniversary.
