The post office issued two special postmarks to accompany this issue. The first depicts a polar bear and a penguin and has the inscription "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE PHILATELIC BUREAU EDINBURGH - 16 FEB 72". The second special postmark shows a Boy Scouts logo atop a series of circles and triangles radiating from the centre and is inscribed "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE LONDON WC - 16TH FEBRUARY 1972".

The second special postmark is rectangular in shape and also shows a snowflake. It is inscribed "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" along the top edge, "DYDD CYHOEDDIAD CYNTAF" along the bottom edge and "BETHLEHEM LLANDEILO CARMS" in a circle with "18 OCT 72" inside it, to the right of the snowflake.
