NAZI GERMANY
PRINTED TO PRIVATE ORDER
POSTCARDS
1936

line
The 1936 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1936 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich’s post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.

Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).

Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.

Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

SILESIAPOSTA - BRESLAU
(4th/7th Jan 1936)

There are three of these postcards issued to commemorate the 1936 Silesia Posta Austellung (Silesia postage stamp exhibition). The designs are the same, the only differences are the value of the pre-printed stamps. One has a 3Rpf, the second has a 5Rpf and the third a 6Rpf stamp, they are all Hindenburg Medallion stamps. The colour of the cards matches the colour of the value stamps. The examples below are all cancelled with the special cancel used in Breslau (Wrocław), the largest city in Silesia and now located in Poland.

The 3Rpf postcard exists with two variations: PP122-C-16-01 without an additional "Tag der Briefmarke" rubber stamp and PP122-C-16-02 which has the additional hand stamped text. The 5Rpf and 6Rpf postcards do not have the additional rubber stamp.
