Third Anniversary of the Protectorate

This cover featuring Michel 83 and Michel 84 was cancelled in Prague with a special cancel commemorating the 3rd Anniversary of the Protectorate on 15th Mar 1942. The cover was addressed to Max Herbst in Hamburg but wasn't posted until 6th July 1942.

Cover to Prague

This cover was cancelled in Oberjellen and destined for Prague. The cover has 4 standard CDS cancels dated 20th April 1942 (Hitler's 52nd Birthday) and there are 3 different coloured inks: red, green and blue. The stamps are the complete set of 1940 Mozart commemorative stamps Michel 79, Michel 80, Michel 81 and Michel 82. According to the 2015/2016 Michel Germany Specialised catalogue these 4 stamps were only valid until 31st Jan 1942 so are here used well after the official validity.

Hitler's Birthday

This cover was cancelled in Prague on Hitler's birthday on 20th Apr 1942. The 4 stamps are the complete set of 1942 Hitler's Birthday commemoration stamps Michel 85, Michel 86, Michel 87 and Michel 88 and the cancel is the special birthday cancel used on the day. The comemmorative cover is inscribed "Das tausendjährige prag grüßt den Führer" roughly translated as "1,000 years Prague greets the leader". There is an additonal inscription "für jeden briefumschlag 50 pfg der derwundetenfursorge der hauptstadt prag zu" again roughly translated as "for every envelope 50 pfenning will be donated to the war wounded of Prague".
