POSTCARDS
1919
The 1919 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1919 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich’s post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.
Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).
Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.
Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

POSTCARD FROM WEIMAR

This postcard was sent from Weimar on 1st Jul 1919. It features three of the four stamps issued on that day to commemorate the establishment of the National German Assembly in the city of Weimar. The three stamps are Michel 107, Michel 108 and Michel 109 as well as a special handstamp cancel used on that day.

POSTCARD FROM HAMBURG
(6th Dec 1919)
This postcard was sent from Hamburg on 6th Dec 1919. It features a 15Pf Michel 108 stamp (affixed upside down). The message on the card reads:
"Herrn F.W Fuchs, Braunlage a.Harz.
In Beantwortung Ihrer gefl. Karte vom 1. ds. Mts. teile ich Ihnen hierdurch mit, dass es ganz unmöglich ist die fraglichen Sägen gegenwärtig zum Priese von Mark 1500.-- das Stück zu liefern. Der Preis stellt sich bei dem heutigen schlechten Kurs über dreimal so hoch.
Ich behalte die Sache aber im Auge, und komme Ihnen näher, wenn sich Aussicht bietet, die Lieferung zu Ihnen Limit zu bewirken.

In response to your card I hereby inform you that it is quite impossible to deliver the saws in question at the price of 1500 marks per piece. At today's bad price, the price is over three times as high.
I will keep an eye on the matter, however, and I will advise you if there is a prospect of effecting the delivery nearer to your requested price.
