Following the massive rise in inflation during 1922 and 1923 the Coin Act was passed on 30th Aug 1924 paving the way for the issue of a new currency, the Reichsmark. The first paper money denominated in Reichsmarks was issued from Nov 1924 and the Reichsmark became the legal currency until a few years after the end of the Second World War.

Issued 30th May 1925 to commemorate the German Transport Exhibition in Munich. Designed by von Weech and available on sheets (5x10) on coated paper. Type 'X' has an upright waffle watermark and Type 'Y' has a sideways waffle watermark. Perf 13¾ x 13. Steering wheel and wings motif.

MICHEL 372 to 374 RHINELAND 1000 YEARS GERMAN
Issued 30th May/July 1925 to commemorate the 1000th Anniversary of the Rhineland being part of Germany. Designed by Prof Firle on sheets (10x10), rolls and booklets. Produced on coated paper with upright waffle watermark and Perf 14:14¼. The design shows the Rhineland landscape with a blast furnace and eagle's head, plate and rotary press printing.
