The BLUE RIBBON RACE
Issued 16th June 1942 on sheets of 50 stamps and valid until May 1945. The Blue Band was an annual horse race for 3 year old's at the Horner Moor racecourse in Hamburg. A special postmark depicting the 'Arms of Hamburg' was used on the 19th, 21st, 24th and 28th June (raceday) and is inscribed "German Grand Prix for three-year old's". The stamp was Perf K14 and was designed by Hohlwein and engraved at the Vienna State Printing Office.
