NAZI GERMANY
OTHER POSTCARDS
1943
The 1943 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1943 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich's post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.
Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).
Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.
Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

NSDAP DAY
(13th Aug 1943)
This postcard was released to commemorate NSDAP Day (Nazi Party Day) from 13th to 15th Aug 1943. The card was for use in the Generalgouverenment (Poland) and has the special cancel which accompanied this event. The image depicts a German soldier carrying a wounded comrade back from the front lines and has the inscription 'Nicht Du bist der Maβstab! Sondern die Front!'. The reverse of the card is inscribed with the details of the event 'Tag der NSDAP im Generalgouverenment 13. - 15. August 1943'. There is another inscription that reads 'Nach einem Gemälde von will Tschech' which states that the image on the front of the card was from a painting by some one from Czechoslovakia. The stamp is a 1943 issue Michel 106 stamp from the Generalgouverenment.

LEARN TO FLY
(11th Sep 1943)
This postcard was published to encourage young Germans to learn to fly. I don't know the date the card was made available but have included it here based on the cancellation date of 11th Sep 1943. The reverse of the card bears the inscription 'The NS-Fliegerkorps fulfils the wishes of the youth and the demands of the Luftwaffe: learn to fly' - 'The NS-Fliegerkorps fulfils the wishes of the youth and the demands of the Luftwaffe: learn to fly'. This was one of a number of such cards issued to promote learning to fly.
