MICHEL 17
FELDPOST CONCESSION STAMP
(Ruhr Pocket)
Issued: Apr 1945. Air mail permission stamp for the troops trapped in the Ruhr pocket. This stamp is a standard Michel 782 with a horizontal "Feldpost" overprint, printed by House Kämper in Meinerzhagen.
The so-called 'Ruhrkesselmarke' wasn't eentually used for Air Mail postage by troops caught in the Ruhr pocket as the war progressed too quickly for them to be used.
THERE ARE MANY KNOWN FORGED OVERPRINTS, FORGED CANCELS AND RE-GUMMED EXAMPLES IN CIRCULATION.
