MICHEL 16
FELDPOST CONCESSION STAMP
(Kurland)
Issued: Mar 1945. Half of Michel Nr 4 divided vertically used in Kuurland as permission stamp for air mail.
The stamps were cut in half on a printers cutting machine and often the cut was not exactly in the middle, therefore vertically imperforate examples are known, caused by the cutting process. The cut in half stammps were affixed to cards and covers to stop misuse and were precancelled with fieldpost cancel 734 (halve), Libau and 17092.
FORGERIES ARE COMMON.
