LAMU and ZANZIBAR

The first German post offices in East Afica were located in territory owned by the Sultan of Zanzibar. After an agreement with the German Empire this area of land was transferred to germany and the post offices were afforded colonial post office status. This applied to post office in Lamu, Zanzibar, Bagamoyo and Dar-Es-Salaam.
