The post office issued three identical special postmarks to accompany this issue depicting the intertwined letters 'S', 'W', 'C' - Sir Winston Churchill. The first inscription reads "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE PHILATELIC BUREAU EDINBURGH - 9 OCT 1974", the second is inscribed "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE BLENHEIM WOODSTOCK OXFORD - 9 OCT 1974" and the third reads "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE HOUSE OF COMMONS LONDON SW - 9 OCT 1974".
