Designed by: B. Craker and issued: 13th Aug 1975, Set of 4 Stamps on 'all over' phosphor paper, P15 x 14. There is also a First Day Cover, a Presentation Pack (Pack No.72), a set of 4 PHQ Cards (No.12) and a 8-page souvenir book detailing the history of the railways. The post office issued 4 special postmarks to accompany this issue. The first is a circular cancel showing a set of railway 'points' and inscribed "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE PHILATELIC BUREAU EDINBURGH - 13 AUG 75".

The remaining 3 postmarks are identical rectangular cancels in the guise of train tickets. The first is "DARLINGTON CO DURHAM - FIRST DAY OF ISSUE - 15 AUG 1975", The second is inscribed "SHILDON CO DURHAM - FIRST DAY OF ISSUE - 15 AUG 1975" and the final cancels reads "STOCKTON ON TEES CLEVELAND - FIRST DAY OF ISSUE - 15 AUG 1975".
