NAZI GERMANY
MISCELLANEOUS POSTCARDS
1942
The 1942 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1942 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich's post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.
Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).
Thirdly misc postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.
Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

ADOLF HITLER PORTRAIT
(20th Apr 1942)
I have been unable to determine when this postcard was issued, however it has been cancelled on Hitler's Birthday on 20th Apr 1942. The cancellation is a special cancellation used to commemorate the occasion.
HITLER's BIRTHDAY
(20th Apr 1942)
MAGDEBURG
(8th May 1942)
This card was cancelled on 8th May 1942 and was sent from HALLE (SAALE) to a local address. The inscription on the left pane reads "Sammlerkameradschaft "hallensia" im Landesverband Magdeburg=halle des Reichsbunder der Philatelisten" - 'Collector's fellowship "hallensia" in the state association Magdeburg = hall of the Reichsbund of philatelists'. This card appears to be a notification to collect philatelic items from a dealer.
The front of the card has a single 3Pf Hitler Medallion stamp and a common slogan cancel inscribed "LUFTPOST | BEFÖRDERT | BRIEFE ZEITUNGEN PAKETE" - 'AIR MAIL | PROMOTED | LETTERS NEWSPAPERS PACKAGES'.
VIENNA GLORIETTE
(10th Aug 1942)
This postcard features the Vienna Gloriette (A gloriette is a building in a garden erected on a site that is elevated with respect to the surroundings) and has two Hindenburg Medallion stamps, cancelled with the special KREIGSHILFSWERK cancel, on this occasion in Vienna on 10th Aug 1942.
