(REICH PARTY CONVENTION)

The Reich's Party Convention Rally or Nuremberg Rally, as it is better known in English, was the annual celebration and propaganda show piece for the Nazi Party and was held every year from 1923 to 1938 (exclusively in Nuremberg from 1927). Nuremberg was situated at the centre of the Reich where the Nazi base was strong and the local organiser, Julius Streicher had strong connections to the local Franconian police force who were sympathetic to the Nazi cause.

The official postcard issued to commemorate the 1936 Nazi Party rally in Nürnberg was designed by Richard Klein and published by Verlag Franz Eher. As usual there were a great many unofficial postcards available.

Among the plethora of postcards issued to coincide with the Nazi Party rally in Nürnberg on Sep 1936 was this classic series of 52 photo-hoffmann postcards. Numbered 36/1 to 36/52 numbers 1 to 9 are in colour and the remaining numbers 10 to 52 are all in black and white. Below are a few examples of postcards from this series.

Another series of postcards released to commemorate the rally was from Verlag Intra of Nürnberg. As with the Hoffmann series the first part is in colour and the remainder in black and white. The total number of cards is at least 115 assuming all numbers are used.

OTHER POSTCARDS

Verlag Franz Eher published the official postcard of the 1936 rally as well as the postcard below. Like the official card this one was also designed by a very busy Prof. Richard Klein. This example from my collection was sent to Kiel and features the special cancel used during the rally.
