NAZI GERMANY
PRINTED TO PRIVATE ORDER
POSTCARDS
1933

line
The 1933 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1933 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich’s post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.

Secondly Printed-to-Private-Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).

Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed-to-private-order postcards however they do not have pre-printed stamps.

Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event). These are typically advertising postcards, plain postcards, or tourist type postcards. For the most part these cards have been postally used.

BLANK POSTCARDS, DRESDEN STAMP SHOW , BERLIN MARKOPOSTA EXHIBITION , KLICKOW, VAAM GEGR 1882, DEUTSCHLAND, DEINE KOLONIEN! and ASCHERSLEBEN STAMP EXHIBITION

Starting in 1933 a great number of plain postcards were printed to private order. These cards all had pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion stamps and vary by the presence/absence of a vertical dividing line, the value of the pre-printed stamp, presence/absence of text and solid destination line. It is impossible to determine the actual release date of each of the variants, so standard practise is to list them as being published on the same date as the issuance of the respective self-adhesive stamps.

DEUTSCHLAND, DEINE KOLONIEN!

One of the most popular postcards issued during the Third Reich era was the following card inscribed 'Deutschland, Diene Kolonien!'. The first card appeared in 1933 and was then issued multiple times with minor changes in the design of both the postcard and the value stamp. Specific dates are hard to determine so I have collected them all in one place for easier comparison.

Please click here if you are interested comparing these cards.
