NAZI GERMANY
PRINTED TO PRIVATE ORDER
POSTCARDS
1934

line
The 1934 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1934 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich’s post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.

Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).

Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.

Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

PP142-A-1 BLANK CARD , KLICKOW , GERMANOPOSTA EXHIBITION , WINTERHILFSWERK and WINTERHILFSWERK LOTTERY

line Starting in 1933 a great number of plain postcards were printed to private order. These cards all had pre-printed Hindenburg Medallion stamps and vary by the presence/absence of a vertical dividing line, the value of the pre-printed stamp, presence/absence of text and solid destination line. It is impossible to determine the actual release date of each of the variants, so standard practise is to list them as being published on the same date as the issuance of the respective self-adhesive stamps.

WINTERHILFSWERK LOTTERY
(Dec 1934 to Mar 1935)

Lottery cards of the Reichsstraße Lottery 1934/35 issued on 29th Dec 1934. In 1934 the NSDAP started a street lottery for the WHW, which lasted until March 1935. In this street lottery, 50 Rpf lottery envelopes were sold, which had, in addition to the lottery ticket, a double view card with two brown views of “The beautiful Germany” on the back.

According to Reichspostverordnung Nr. 430 of 1934, the cards are numbered 1-200. A private client from Berlin allegedly had 52 of these unstamped double cards printed with a 3 Rpf Hindenburg medallion, for which he delivered a wide variety of numbers per image to the Reichs Druckerei. The total edition should have been about 2000 pieces. Separated individual cards, which were used almost exclusively for the procurement of occasional postmarks, are listed below as PP-122-F-5. Unseparated double cards, each with a value stamp per half of the card, which can usually only be found unused, are catalogued under PP124-F-1.
