NAZI GERMANY
PRINTED TO PRIVATE ORDER
POSTCARDS
1939
The 1939 postcard page has now been split into four separate pages as it was beginning to get unwieldy. All 1939 Official postcards are now on this page. Official postcards are cards that were issued by the Reich's post office, had pre-printed (indicia) stamps and were widely available throughout German towns and cities.
Secondly Printed to Private Order postcards are postcards that were generally issued by entities that were advertising an event or commemorating an anniversary, and also had pre-printed stamps, but were not widely available throughout Germany (most were only available at the event they were commemorating).
Thirdly Other postcards are postcards that fall into the same general category as printed to private order however they do not have pre-printed stamps.
Finally, Miscellaneous postcards is where you will find postcards that do not fit into the first three categories (i.e. they are not official, they do not have pre-printed stamps, and they do not commemorate an event).

K.d.F FRIENDS COLLECTORS SHOW
LEIPZIG

This postcard was published by the K.d.F (Kraft Durch Freude) collectors' community to commemorate a "K.d.F friends" collectors event that was held in Leipzig. The Collectors' event was not just for stamp collectors but also for antiques, coins, pictures and badge collectors.
This was the only printed-to-private-order postcard issued to commemorate the event but there was a special cancel available inscribed "LEIPZIG | Sammler- | Kameradschaftsabend", that was only available on the 7th of Jan.

TAG DER BRIEFMARKE
BREMEN
PP127-C-46
(7th Jan 1939)
This postcard was a re-issue of the 1938 PP127-C-38, Bremen Keys to the World postcard, only now with an additional overprint "TAG DER BRIEFMARKE | am 7. u. 8. Jan. 1939 | EINLASSKARTE". The date of the original event has also ben blocked out and replaced by "im VEREINSHAUS, MUSEUM | Eintritt nur gegen Vorzeigung dieser Karte" - 'in the CLUB, MUSEUM | Entry only upon presentation of this card', indicating that this postcard was also the entry ticket to the event.
The other change to the original card is the addition of a vertical line of text running along the right-hand side of the image which reads "Abgabepreis 20 Rpf." - 'Sale Price 20Rpf'. So for 20Rpf the visitor gained entry to the show and was also able to post the ticket/postcard for no additional cost. The example below also has the special cancellation used during the show.
